Dashing adventurer Penn Bowen is dedicated to preserving Britain’s history and his carefree, bachelor lifestyle. He’s happiest when he’s in pursuit of knowledge and the occasional liaison with the right woman. So he’s more than a little perturbed when the wrong woman inserts herself into his latest quest—proving that a valuable artifact in Oxford’s museum is a fake. Amelia Gardiner is smart and capable…and determined to prove that Penn is wrong about the treasure her grandfather found.

Amelia won’t allow Penn to denigrate her family’s legacy, and she certainly won’t join the ranks of women who throw themselves at his feet. As secretive and dangerous factions infiltrate their hunt, Amelia and Penn must work together to stay one step ahead. But passion ignites between them and suddenly their alliance is more than a simple convenience. When peril strikes too close, they’ll risk everything they hold dear: family, honor, and a chance for the greatest treasure of all—love.

This is a great story of Penn Bowen, a Curator, archaeologist for the Museum of Antiquities in Oxford. When his parents died, he was taken in, by a Scholar, who he loves dearly as his true Father, and Mother. He is out to prove that an important item in the Museum is a fake, he wants to find the real artifact.

Amelia Forester, is out to prove that her Grandfathers artifact is real, before his death, he told her of another artifact to be found. She is out to find it, however, he warned her, of the Order, and to be wary of them, they were not to be trusted!

That is how the two meet, searching for this same artifact. I found all of this, extremely interesting, I like the two of them together, the one thing, I dislike, is his language. His profanity is an excuse that he uses because, he is always in dirty places, scrounging for artifacts? I am sorry, this I can’t buy! During that time period, Gentlemen never forgot that they were gentlemen! Other than that I liked the biggest surprise toward the end! It is a good little mystery.
