The Earl Of Pembroke, James, meets a lovely young lady while taking his younger sister to the modiste.  She is Gillian Beaumont, daughter of an Earl, the only problem is, and it is a huge problem, she is the illegitimate daughter, her Mother was his Mistress, after his wife died. While he was alive, he was a good, loving father, now, he, and her Mother are dead. To earn a living, she goes to work as a Lady’s maid to The Honorable Audrey Sheridan, sister, and daughter of a Viscount. Miss Audrey constantly finds herself in danger, and Gillian, is the one, who knows her secrets, and goes to her rescue.

The Earl of Pembroke has only met her that morning, we have love at first sight. He already can tell that she is in trouble, and off to her rescue he goes. This is a sweet, not clean but not overtly sexual story. I am deducting one Pearl, for the use of giggling, I truly despise describing a grown young woman’s laughter, as giggles! I am also deducting one half Pearl, for having sex, on the first day that they meet! It is a light read.
